Acceptance criteria
- [ ] Anyone who opens Cense sees the list of cards chosen for students, each showing the issuer, card name and annual fee. No account is needed.
- [ ] Anyone can open a card to see its details. The card list has a button that starts the quiz. A visitor who is not signed in is asked to sign in first, then goes straight to the quiz.
- [ ] User is able to complete the quiz in under 2 minutes. On the web, sign-up comes after browsing and before the quiz.
- [ ] A user under 21 must report independent income.
- [ ] A user 21 or over is not subject to the independent-income test, and the flow does not ask for a cosigner.
- [ ] Age and income questions add no more than 25 seconds to a timed run of the flow.
- [ ] The results screen shows the recommended card, its fit tier (likely fit, stretch or not yet), the reason for that tier in plain language, and a line saying the tier is guidance, not a guarantee of approval.
- [ ] When no card is a likely fit (for example, a user under 21 with no independent income), the results screen says so in plain, non-shaming words and shows the reason.
- [ ] A returning signed-in user sees their card, reasoning and plan without re-answering anything.
Additional detail
- CARD Act ability-to-pay provision. Under 21, an issuer may not open an account unless the applicant shows independent ability to make the minimum payments, or has a cosigner aged 21+ who can. At 21 and over the independent test drops away and issuers may count income the applicant has a reasonable expectation of access to.
- Approval fit: Cense shows a fit tier (likely fit, stretch, not yet) set by written rules from the user's answers. Cense never decides or guarantees approval; the issuer's own preapproval check (Preapproval Check and Apply Hand-off) is the real test.
- Card comparison sites show far more than a first-time student can use. Show a few facts per card and do not copy their screens.
- Depends on: Save My Results (the quiz and results sit behind sign-in; the card list does not). Used by: Preapproval Check and Apply Hand-off (its buttons sit on the results screen and the card list).
- Fit tier rules, v1.0 (the quiz questions, gates, cautions, reason text and test cases): Fit Tier Rules v1.2 (Credit Card Recommender)
